Ellis Medicine operates Day Surgery Units at Ellis Hospital and the Ellis
Health Center.
Ellis Hospital (1101 Nott Street, Schenectady)
Located on the second floor of Ellis Hospital's A wing, the Day Surgery Unit
serves both surgical and cardiac catheterization patients and their families.
This 18-bed unit is designed for pre-surgical and pre-discharge care of patients
who do not require overnight stays. Emphasis is placed on patient and family
education to prevent complications following discharge and to ensure appropriate
follow-up care.
Our Day Surgery patients aren't the only ones who receive compassionate care.
Our Day Surgery staff strives to take great care of families of patients, too.
The Day Surgery Patient Welcome Center serves as a pleasant place for family
members to wait while their loved one is undergoing surgery or recovering. The
Patient Welcome Center, which has a television, aquarium and children's area, is
designed to make families feel at home during their stay at Ellis. The Center is
equipped with digital pagers that allow patients or family members to leave the
unit while waiting or during delays.
The Patient Welcome Center is staffed Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m.
to 8:00 p.m. Our staff is trained to answer your questions and help in any way
possible.

Day Surgery at Ellis Health Center (600 McClellan Street, Schenectady)
Located across from the Medical Arts Building at the rear of the Ellis Health
Center campus (600 McClellan Street, Schenectady), the Surgery Center serves
outpatient surgical patients and their families.
Our skilled and compassionate team of surgeons performs a wide range of
outpatient surgeries for patients whose surgical needs do not require an
overnight stay. From dental, general and orthopedic surgeries, to ophthalmology,
gastroenterology, otolaryngology, podiatry and plastic surgery procedures,
nearly 4,500 outpatient surgeries are performed at Ellis Health Center each
year.
Convenience and Comfort
The Day Surgery Center has its own convenient parking area and a spacious
waiting room with a designated children’s area. Our staff is available to answer
your questions and help in any way possible.
