Location: Ellis Health Center, McClellan Street,
Schenectady
Objective: Moving the 82-bed Ellis Residential &
Rehabilitation Center (Ellis Center) from Ellis Hospital to the Ellis
Health Center improves the setting of the nursing home facility, and
provides separate, dedicated space for short-stay rehabilitation. The
move will also enable the hospital to utilize the 82 vacated rooms for
inpatient care in the future.
Project Highlights:
- More private rooms - arranged in neighborhoods, with warm colors
and lighting;
- Family rooms and larger areas for dining, activities and therapy
- Rooms reserved for respite care
- Rooftop garden
- Cyber Cafe
- Larger Hair Salon
- Access to an outdoor courtyard and gazebo
- Interfaith sanctuary for religious services
The Ellis Center also includes a separate, dedicated 16-bed
rehabilitation unit with a spacious, fully equipped physical therapy
room for patients in need of short-term rehab.
