2014 Speaker Robach was an Inspiration to Attendees!

Amy Robach was our 2014  Women's Night Out speaker. The ABC News correspondent spoke about her personal battle with breast cancer during her motivational and heartfelt presentation.

In October 2013, Robach received some life-altering news when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  As part of Good Morning America Goes Pink Day in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and at the urging of her colleague, Robin Roberts, she had her first mammogram (broadcast live in front of millions of viewers). Since Robach was 40, the recommended age women should start getting mammograms, producers felt that she would be the perfect person to help raise awareness about the importance of early detection and participate in the first ever live television mammogram. A few weeks later, Robach received the devastating news that she had breast cancer.  She underwent a double mastectomy and is currently undergoing treatment. Robach says the decision to have that on-air mammogram was “the difference between life and death.” She will soon chronicle her journey of what it’s like living with and treating her cancer in a new book. Having covered the tragedies and triumphs of others for nearly 20 years as a journalist, Robach wants to share her story-a road that so many have traveled before and help pave the way for those who unfortunately will follow.  She says, “nothing is the same, everything changes, but the fight to live joyfully has been ignited.”
